Wikus vd Merwe

Wikus Van der Merwe is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in ICT and Human Capital Development. He holds a Master’s degree in Human Capital Development from the University of Johannesburg and has completed the Executive Leadership program at GIBS, in addition to various technical ICT qualifications.

Throughout his esteemed career, Wikus has made significant contributions to the ICT industry. As a member of the leadership team at Telkom SA, one of South Africa’s largest ICT companies, he led the ICT Training Centre and played a pivotal role in the company’s technology and capability transition. He also collaborated with the South African Government’s Department of Communication, leading the Joint Initiative for Priority Skills Acquisition project (JIPSA), which successfully placed over 1,000 unemployed ICT graduates in permanent roles in the private sector.

As a registered consultant for the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO), Wikus has delivered papers on human capacity building projects in various countries, including South Korea, the UK, Canada, Botswana, and Zambia. He was appointed by the ITU as the lead training consultant for a pilot program in Telemedicine for the Ministry of Health and Childcare in Zimbabwe.

As a renowned speaker and expert trainer, Wikus specializes in areas such as E-Health and Telemedicine, Leadership Development, ICT Technology Management, Vendor and Contract Management, and Strategic Human Capital Planning. In 2011, he co-founded Human Capital Learning Solutions, where he currently serves as a Co-Director.
